Ann - I agree with you.

I was planting a seed on visualizing how we communicate change. The outward change could reflect a powerful inner one. A friend of mine just sent me a thoughtful note liberating the concept a little by asking, "Can you show an inner resolve and change reflected in an outward, observable one? For example conduct and language."

It certainly SEEMS as though it's easier to change with a clean slate. I think that's partially because our actions are often reactions to people and our environment. So change is harder when you continue to experience the stimuli that cause you to react in a certain manner.

I would argue, though, that true transformation is possible in any environment and that changing our circumstances to evoke change is often covering up the fact that WE don't really want to change at all. We just want to escape and rationalize that somehow a new beginning will cause a different outcome - with no sustained effort on our part to get to the root of what causes our behavior.
